FAQS

What is a control panel?

A Building Management System (BMS) control panel is an interface that monitors and controls the mechanical and electrical systems of a building. These systems can include lights, heat, ventilation, HVAC and security. The panel houses programmable controllers connected to these systems to automate and optimise their operation for remote management and energy efficiency.

How does a control panel work?

BMS control panels use sensors to collect data on parameters including (but not limited to) temperature, humidity, occupancy, CO2 and light. The panel processes this information and commands the equipment it is connected to (eg, heating, ventilation, etc.) to turn on, adjust settings, or turn off.

BMS control panels are real-time local automation units which automatically detect concerning environmental changes and act based on data. The BMS control system connects to software and a user interface, allowing building managers to monitor, analyse, and override automatic functions where necessary.

What are some benefits of control panels?

BMS control panels significantly improve the energy efficiency of your facility, streamlining building management processes and resulting in cost savings. Also, depending on their application, they can contribute to your ongoing employee safety efforts by creating a comfortable, hazard-free environment.

BMS control panels adjust system functionality to ensure they only run when necessary, preventing overuse and waste, and minimising your carbon footprint. They can detect system faults and trigger emergency responses, instantly notifying your building manager of problems and encouraging proactive maintenance and action.

BMS control panels also help to automatically remove production by-products, triggering ventilation systems to remove hazardous substances and improve air quality.
